  The University Sports activities are governed by Law No. 06-87 relating to physical education and sports, promulgated by the Dahir No. 1-88-172 of 19 May 1989).


 Physical and sporting activities are an essential factor for the balance and health of the body, morally and physically. MIU remains within the realm and goals set up by the Ministry of Higher Education to ensures:

  • The Organization and the practice of physical activities for students in good conditions and secured environment.

  • The Promotion and the development of physical activities which on the basis of amateur sport, so as to enabling the greatest number of students to participate in these physical activities

  • The Promotion and hatching of sports talents.

  • Coordination with other universities or sports bodies.

Conception, Organization And Practice Of Sports At MIU:


University Sports Complex :

  The University Sports Complex is a necessary detente site where all staff and faculty meets in conviviality, outside work and/or studies. It spreads over an area of 8 hectares and has the following operational facilities:

  • 01 football/rugby pitch with grandstand with a 500 seat-capacity,

  • 01 A tarred outdoor handball ground,

  • 01 A tarred outdoor basketball ground,

  • 02 A tarred outdoor volleyball ground,

  • 01 A multi-sport indoor hall with an 800 seat-capacity,

  • 01 An Administrative building,

  • 02 An Athletics Track Newly renovated,

  • 01 A Parking Space,

  • 01 A wild wooded hill.

Sports Facilities At The Residence Hall :

  • A sports office,

  • A clay Football ground,

  • A cemented Handball/basketball and Volleyball ground,

  • A tarred athletics track with 6 lanes,

  • A Weightlifting room,

  • A Weightlifting room,

  • Cloak rooms with showers and hot water.

At the Faculty Multidisciplinary NADOR :

  • A sports office,

  • A clay Football ground,

  • A cemented Handball/basketball and Volleyball ground,

  • Cloak rooms.

At The National School Of Applied Sciences Al HOCEIMA :

  • A sports office,

  • A clay Football ground,

  • An Omnisport hall,

  • Cloak rooms.

Human Resources::

   Each Specific Educational Activity has a staff of supervisors. These are usually professors or supervisors of Physical Education of the Ministry of Youth and Sport. This staff is overseen by a University Department of physical and sports activities on site. The Service manages the activities stated above and caters for the administrative and financial aspects of the sports practiced.

Training :

  Each year, the presidency of the University, in collaboration with some partners, organizes training courses for the benefit of PE teachers, coaches and sports technicians. The themes are varied and cover several sports.                                                                                                            

Competitions :

 The sports competitions start from November to June. 6 major national events are programmed by the Royal Moroccan Federation of University Sport; these are:

  • The Football Throne Cup,

  • The Cross Country National University Championship,

  • The Sports Team National University Championship,

  • The Athletics National University Championship,

  • The Rugby seven National Championship.

      Multidisciplinary national and international tournaments: To prepare these great national events and in order to qualify, the University Sport Department organizes the following local qualifying competitions:

  • The local sports team championship,

  • The local cross country championship,

  • The local athletics championship.

     Other tournaments are also programmed, namely:

  • The Sub-Saharan African Students tournament,

  • The Rugby Annual Tournament (sometimes international).

       Refereeing is generally ensured at the local level by students, and at the regional level by referees of different oriental leagues who are paid to officiate.


  • Organization of seminars, conferences and meetings

  • Participation in the organization of sports forums,

  • Production of documents relating to sports.


  • The university sports service has started contracting partnerships with some organizations:

  • The French Institute of Oujda

  • The Eastern Athletics League

  • The Eastern Judo League

  • The Eastern Karate League

  • The Eastern Football League

  • The Royal Moroccan Federation of University Sport.

  • Other.

This allows the sports service to conduct several training courses for supervisors and coaches.


Registration is done at the University Sports Complex from Monday through Saturday (i.e from 9 am to 12:00 am).

Conferences and Events

Water management and environment protection are important factors for Sustainable development. They have also become focal themes of debates be they scientific, political, economic and social. The First International Forum on Water and Environment Studies aims at bringing forth the importance and the stakes of both in addition to suggesting solutions for problems met in the domain.

2. Sultan MulaySlimane University and the University Network (RUNET) is organizing a Spring Programme (Université de Printemps) on the Energetic Efficacy (UP2E) for the Moroccan Doctoral Students from 11 through 15 of April 2016.



The Industrial and Technological Engineering Platform (ENSA, Oujda) is organizing an International Conference on: Innovating Materials and their Applications. The Conference will be held from 21st April to 22nd.
